“You Go On Ahead” – Sunset Rubdown [Black Cab Sessions]
By Adam Soldinger • Feb 13th, 2009 • Category: Song of the Day, The WireFollowing in the footsteps of Vincent Moon’s Take-Away Shows (or Les Concerts A Emporter) and (I guess) “Taxicab Confessions”, this series of videos, called Black Cab Sessions, showcases artists performing in one take in the back of, predictably, a taxicab.
In this particular installment Sunset Rubdown, one of Wolf Parade’s Spencer Krug’s many side projects, performs their track “You Go On Ahead” live for the very first time just prior to their headlining gig in London. Armed with an acoustic guitar, a Casio keyboard, a single drumstick and a tea cup, three of the band’s five members pull off a great show in one of the unlikeliest of venues…and prove just how brilliant they really are…
