Freeride World Tour: Nissan Tram Face, Day 2 cancelled
By Adam Soldinger • Mar 4th, 2009 • Category: Events, News, The Wire
The recent heavy snowfall in the western U.S. hasn’t been good news for everyone on the slopes, especially those involved in the Freeride World Tour at Squaw Valley. Unfortunately, after a successful first day of competition on the Silverado Face, a storm rolled in and made conditions on the elusive Tram Face too dicey and potentially dangerous for the riders, forcing organizers to cancel Day 2 (Saturday). It would have been the first event ever held on the Tram Face, which is a closed area and “technically illegal to ski”. Now, competitors are off to France for the 3rd leg of the tour, the Nissan Freeride de Tignes, taking place on Monday, March 9th.
Note: By the way, the storm that caused the event’s cancellation eventually dropped a total of 6 feet (!!!) of fresh pow at Squaw.
Here’s the event teaser with some more info on the Tram Face…
And some very cool footage from Friday’s competition…
