About Us

This site is meant to be a source of news, information and entertainment for those of us who are serious riders, but may not be the first one to pull a back flip, don’t have our next trip to Alyeska planned, and may have no clue who Guerlain Chicherit is. And if you do (on any of these), good for you. Dick.

Like many of you, we love our constant influx of ski or snowboard magazines but we can’t always relate to pictures of sponsored pros shooting 100-foot couloirs or jumping road gaps at night, as much as we’d like to. So, we thought we’d build something for us regular guys and gals who just love playing in the snow. Enjoy, and share the love.

Adam Soldinger

A native of the east coast, Adam grew up learning that it’s not how good you ski, it’s how good you look. As a result, he has always been considered a failure. His formative years were spent on a pair of hand-me-down skis while learning to navigate Vermont’s slick surfaces and shelly bumps. He eventually went to school in Boulder, CO where he explored the Rockies and learned what all the fuss was about. After spending five years there, which wasn’t nearly enough, he moved out to LA to work in entertainment (surprise, surprise) and became a loyal regular at Mammoth Mountain.

Now, after moving up the Bay Area last summer, he’s looking forward to his second season riding Tahoe. He is sometimes swayed by blackjack tables and wonders why anyone would put the two so close together. It’s just not fair.

John Henion (a.k.a The Hater)

John Henion

John learned how to snowboard behind a Ski-Doo snowmobile in the waiting cornfields of a central New York winter. This led him to Vermont where he spent his college years playing NHL Hockey ’95 on NES and snowboarding at Stowe Mountain. To his surprise, he was able to graduate college and very soon afterward decided to move out west before the university realized its mistake. On his way to San Francisco he dropped in on some friends living in Lake Tahoe who convinced him to drop a 40-foot cliff. He didn’t land it, but he wasn’t hurt either. From that day on he was hooked on Sierra Cement.

Today, John is admittedly a gaper living in the East Bay and fighting throngs of traffic to get to Sugar Bowl whenever possible. He also enjoys dressing like a French-Canadian whenever possible. Rumor has it he invented the phrase “après-ski”. Thanks John.
